Design & Innovation Centre

Sustainability with Style

RND’s Design & Innovation Centre is part of an 8000 square foot green building which includes our office, warehouse and fabrication shop. This building was designed by Christopher Simmonds Architect and built by RND in 2003. When first built, the facility was 42% more efficient than the building code. After continuous improvements and retrofits, such as our recent 10 KW solar PV installation, the facility is now approaching Net Zero, making it a valuable resource for educating clients on the latest eco-friendly technologies and materials. The Design & Innovation Centre truly captures our objective of “Sustainability with Style”.

The Centre is a beacon of green building technology for renovations and custom homes. Similar to our homes, the Centre is lit by natural daylight, providing an excellent environment to showcase samples of our many elegant, durable and eco-friendly finishing materials. Guided by our knowledgeable team, our clients are able to peruse through the vast collection of fully customizable luxury finishes to find the perfect ones for their home. The Centre also carries models of many sustainable building technologies used within our projects such as radon venting, mould-free construction details, solar PV systems, high-performance HVAC systems, drain water heat recovery systems and more. We host various workshops in the Centre through a joint effort with our industry partners to educate homeowners on green building technologies. Overall, the Design & Innovation Centre fully embodies our mission as a company to provide innovative and healthy homes through collaboration with industry professionals while educating homeowners on sustainability.
